RELai operates as part of a wider low-power wireless ecosystem built around secure LoRa communications and intelligent proximity awareness. At its core, RELai acts as a silent digital presence marker attached directly to an asset.

Intermittent LoRa beacon signals transmitted by gateways allow both RELai devices and pallet-mounted tags to remain synchronised in time and communication behaviour.

When communication conditions permit, RELai transmits a lightweight “I’m here” beacon which is detected by nearby tags. These tags then relay proximity and relationship information back through the network to secure backend systems via higher-bandwidth infrastructure.

This enables the system to intelligently determine:

  • Which individual assets belong to which pallet or container
  • Whether assets have been moved or separated
  • Relative proximity between assets and transport platforms
  • The movement history of stock throughout the supply chain
 

Using signal strength and Convert’s optional ranging techniques, the system can accurately infer which RELai devices are physically associated with a given pallet or tagged assembly.
